Your questions about our sauce pots answered.

Sustainability

Are these sauce pots compostable?

Yes, bagasse sauce pots are sustainable as they are made from sugarcane pulp, a renewable resource, and are biodegradable and compostable. PLA sauce pots, made from plant-based plastics like corn or sugarcane, offer a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics but require industrial composting conditions to break down effectively. While rPET sauce pot lids are made from recycled plastic, reducing waste, they are not compostable. However, they are recyclable, helping to minimize the need for virgin plastic.

What are your sauce pots made from?

Bagasse sauce pots are made from sugarcane pulp, a byproduct left after extracting juice from sugarcane. It’s a renewable, plant-based material that is biodegradable and compostable.

PLA sauce pots are made from Polylactic Acid (PLA), a biodegradable plastic derived from fermented plant starch, typically sourced from corn or sugarcane. PLA is a plant-based alternative to petroleum-based plastics.

Durability

Are these disposable sauce pots leakproof?

Both bagasse and PLA sauce pots are reliable for food delivery. Bagasse is sturdy and leak-resistant but may struggle with very watery liquids. PLA is denser, more leakproof, and better at handling liquids and cooler temperatures. Both need secure lids to prevent spills.
